What Wall?
Project Goals:
- Remove the center wall separating the kitchen and family room space to create a more open area and provide space to expand the kitchen.
- Create an island space to sit and prepare food.
- Bring the laundry from the basement to the main floor by creating a mud-room space from the garage.
- Utilize space from the garage to create a closet and convert a bonus room into a full master suite through converting a half-bathroom to a full bathroom and remodeling the room.

Project Overview
This was a big project. By removing the wall between the kitchen and family room, our designer had a lot of options on how to configure the kitchen. As the kitchen was fully remodeled, the design also included updates to the family room area including the front door entry, flooring in the kitchen and family room, and cleaning off the old wood burning fireplace to make it look new again. We converted a closet at the garage entry into a laundry space that would fit a stackable washer and dryer and updated an existing bonus room into a full master suite bedroom. The existing half-bathroom was completely reconfigured to tie to the new owners suite by relocating fixtures and adding a full shower to create a full bathroom. The kitchen is a beautiful mix of natural tones of wood with an exciting quartz countertop on the large island. The tile behind the range gives a splash of color below stunning range hood. We worked to preserve the original hardwood floors in the family room and extended it into the new kitchen and dining space and refinished the whole to make it match.
